On Friday 22nd May I had the pleasure of presenting at a conference on youth violence at Brunel University. As a nurse I was excited at the fact it was in the Mary Seacole centre for a start but the fact that it was one of the most directly relevant conferences I had been asked to present at was great. This came about when the researcher at the Centre for Public Health who had originally been asked and was to talk about the evaluation she did of our work was unable to attend. My presentation was looking at the personal impact of violence and a method of prevention using our workshops.

The presentation seemed to be a success and it was great to meet people who also worked specifically in this field both organisations and practitioners. I stayed for the day and it was a great experience finding out more about the work going on out there around violence prevention.

I hope that besides a few people who seemed keen to keep in touch this opportunity has also spread awareness of our work to practitioners and organisations which could in future lead to further opportunities including work with more young people.

Thank you to everyone who attended. It was a pleasure to meet you all and please keep in touch.
