We are looking for volunteers! If you feel you could donate some of your time to support the work of SAV please see if this opportunity may be for you.

WHAT IS A VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISER

A volunteer fundraiser is someone who donates their time to raise valuable funds for SAV in order for the charity to:

  • Continue to deliver workshops to young people
  • Develop and grow as a charity
  • Create new projects and interventions to reduce violence

WHAT IS A VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISING GROUP AND WHO IS INVOLVED

A volunteer fundraising group (VFG) is a group of volunteer fundraisers usually from the same locality who work together to:

  • Organise events
  • Support SAV’s existing work
  • Promote SAV through other organised events such as freshers events, safety events
  • Network on behalf of SAV
  • Take part in sponsored activities
  • Take part in collections

Generally there are two roles in a VFG. This opportunity is to recruit both roles. These are:

  • The VFG lead who will coordinate group efforts and recruit new members. The lead also links with the charities trustees or designated individual. They also provide updates and reports.
  • The VFG members who support the lead and work as a team to help create and run successful events and activities.

WHO CAN BE A VFG LEAD OR MEMBER

Anyone who wants to do something great for a cause they believe in can be a VFG member or even start their over VFG as a lead.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

SAV is a friendly and supportive team but we have some basic expectations of everyone who represents us. These are:

  • Show mutual respect for one another
  • Support each other and share knowledge and experience
  • Uphold the values of SAV and non violence
  • Act in a professional manner when conducting activities on behalf of SAV
  • Be realistic about your goals and ensure you fulfil them to the best of your ability
  • Know your limits and ask for help when needed
  • Adhere to SAV policies and procedures

WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN

SAV recognises that all volunteers need something in return and everyone is motivated in different ways. For example someone may volunteer their time because:

  •  They believe passionately in the charity
  • They would like to gain experience
  • They would like to enhance their CV
  • They are looking for something to do in their spare time

SAV will ensure that your needs are met through interviews and your application form. As a part of the VFG you will get from SAV:

  •  Support in your activities both through advice and supplying merchandise
  • The offer of free training courses both internally within SAV and externally
  • Certificates and awards
  • References on request
  • Regular internal networking and thank you events

How much of your time does this role require?

This role is very flexible and you will be expected to self manage your time. Trustees will decide the two events for the year ahead and will work with you to set a date. It is then your role to ensure the event is organised for that date. You will be fully supported in your role and work closely with the event and fundraising trustee.

How will you be supported and trained?

Both support and training will be provided by the SAV Fundraising and Events Trustee.

How to apply

If you are interested in joining the team please complete our application form found here https://standagainstviolence.co.uk/get-involved/
